She is Member of the Employment Law Committee of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, and is an elected Board Member of the Centro Unido de Detallistas, a non-profit chamber of commerce that represents more than 4,000 SME's in Puerto Rico.
María Elena is a graduate of the Inter American University Law School, where she belonged to the Editorial Staff of the Law Review, and was also a Faculty Assistant and Law Clerk. She is admitted to practice before the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Court of Appeals.
Born in Madrid and raised in New York and San Juan where she lives with her husband and son.
